Over 200 women in 40 different states have joined in a class action lawsuit against the hair care line WEN. The plaintiffs assert that WEN products – specifically the WEN Cleansing Conditioner, created by celebrity hairstylist Chaz Dean – can cause severe hair damage, including rashes and bald spots. WEN has denied these allegations.
Among other allegations, Plaintiffs in the class action contend that WEN’s hair care products were negligently designed and manufactured, did not conform to its express and implied warranties, and that the product’s defects caused the Plaintiffs injury. Injuries to members of the class include damage to hair resulting in bald spots, hair breakage, scalp irritation, and rash. One individual claims that she lost about one quarter to one third of her hair, and was forced to spend a substantial amount of money on vitamins and extensions to rectify the damage. The lawsuit states that the potential amount of plaintiffs in the class could number in “the thousands or tens of thousands.” A simple Google search of the WEN hair care products results in countless negative reviews by users.
